Archival shots of the Shop

Image
Brother Kurt found these three shots online recently - two are archival exteriors of the building, one pre- and one post-Aurora Cycle, the other a shot of the restaurant that occupied the building before we did. I'll let Kurt chime in with details on how he found them.

And now, a word about this Jensen guy: Grand and Greatgrandfather of the McAllisters

Image
JENSEN-MCALLISTER connection is a bit vague, but family members have said Vigo Jensen married "Matilda", known as "Tillie", had six children and lived in Wisconsin. Vigo deserted his family in the early 1900s, Tillie later married "McAllister" and they moved to Seattle, initially lived in a small house across (and 2/3 block north) from where Ray's Boathouse is now (6410 Seaview Ave.), and then moved to Alki. McAllister reportedly died of cancer soon after arriving in Puget Sound. This photo circa 1905, was given to Jean Blackburn McAllister by Laura Jensen, the eldest Jensen. It shows Vigo and Tillie with, from left,  Julius, 5, Ida, 7, Laura, 8, Florence, 3, and Amil, 1 year. Rachel ("Ray"), a longtime Bremerton resident, was not born yet; Florence and Amil died in childhood. All the "Jensens" have passed; it's assumed the McAllister name was accepted by all of them after the stepfather stepped in, so to speak.

Julius Iver Draft Card

Image
Pop sent me this a little while ago.  I always heard that my Grandfather was Iver Julius, but it looks like we may have had it turned around. We acquired this copy of his draft card from ancestry.com.

Family Reunion Pic 1980

Image
THERE WERE SIX children spawned by Iver Julius and Alice Olivia (Langseth) McAllister from 1927 to 1945, all born at Swedish Hospital in Seattle. There was a gap between the offspring from 1931 to 1939, yah sure, for some unknown reason. Attending a reunion in Olympia in 1980 were the siblings (from left, in ascending age order), Lee, Tim, Bob, Gary and Jim and their "dad liked me best," she proudly claims, sister Jeanie (Blackburn) McAllister. The trivia: how many children did they produce? As far as they all know (!), 17. Grandchildren? Go figure (quite a legacy eh?). - Tim McAllister
